Valentine’s Day is upon us. The first Valentine is said to have been written by Saint Valentine himself as he awaited his execution. Now, we celebrate with trinkets, chocolates, and other materialistic demonstrations of affection. Also known as the Feast of Saint Valentine, this day celebrating romantic love is rooted in martyrdom–a blood-stained history that serendipitously embodies Eros and Thanatos, love and death. What better way to celebrate than with horror films that turn romanticism on its head. From femme fatales to unhinged hotties, sit down with someone you love (or hate) as these horror icons make martyrs of the men who dare to cross their paths….
